Janice M. (Steer) Fountaine, 91, a resident of Plaistow for the past forty-six years, died January 5, 2018 at High Point Hospice House in Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Arthur E. and Adeline B. (Harris) Steer, she had been an area resident for all of her life. She attended Haverhill public grade schools and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1943.
Predeceased by her husband Norman A. Fountaine, she leaves nephews, Robert W. Steer, Glen Steer, John Steer, nieces, Helen Steer, Jena McRae, Mary Roberts and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Ufford and Lucille Thornhill, brothers Robert Steer and Glen Steer and nephews, Frank Thornhill and James Steer, and niece Beverly Cormier.
Mrs. Fountaine was employed by the former Western Electric Co and retired with thirty-five years of service, and was a member of the Hannah Duston Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed antiquing with her late husband Norman, needle work and volunteering in area nursing homes, serving "Special Persons", those without families or friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow . Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery.
