Obituary

Janet M. Healey Fucci, 79, of Haverhill, Massachusetts – formerly Weston, Massachusetts – passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Winsor Place, Wilmington, where she was surrounded by devoted care and kind friends. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Edward J. and Anita C. (Gordon) Healey.

Janet was a dedicated and beloved middle school teacher for the Haverhill Public Schools, at the Albert B. Consentino school. Janet received the Massachusetts Department of Education, Distinguished Teacher Award for over 40 years of teaching! Her favorite subject to learn and teach was History. Janet received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Emmanuel College in Boston and her Master's Plus from Salem State University. Teaching was only one of the many ways Janet shared herself with the world and many of her lifelong friends are fellow educators.

An enduring lover of art, she was both an avid admirer and a talented crafter, known especially for the beautiful handmade decorations she created for the holidays. For family gatherings, Janet made her famous trail mix — pretzels, peanuts, M&Ms, goldfish, and raisins — and every niece and nephew learned the same gentle rule: take a handful! Don't just pick out the M&Ms and leave the raisins. It was so like her. Life may have handed Janet her share of raisins, especially near the end, but she always seemed to remember the M&Ms. Ever-optimistic, she took life by the handful — and made the rest of us want to do the same.

Janet had a passion for fashion, travel, gardening, and flowers. She could often be found outdoors, sunning herself on Humarock Beach with generations, young and old, or at Weston Golf Club, where she spent many happy hours. Warm, inclusive, and unfailingly buoyant no matter what life sent her way, Janet was always up for a good chat, a hearty laugh, and the company of the people she loved.

In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Fucci, and her brother, Edward J. "Ned" Healey, Jr.

Janet was the oldest of seven siblings and, after the early death of her father, took on the role of second mother and nurturer of her siblings. Janet will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by siblings Joan H. Sullivan and her partner, James Maiocca, of Medfield, Massachusetts; Brian G. Healey and his partner, Linda Durant, of Arlington, Massachusetts; Christine H. McManama and her husband, Steven, of Medfield, Massachusetts; Mary Jane Scott and her husband, David, of North Reading, Massachusetts and Mary Anne Barnes and her husband, Earl, of Billerica, Massachusetts. Janet is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Calling Hours for Janet, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM, on Tuesday April 28, 2026, at the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, Massachusetts. A Funeral Service for Janet will follow at the Funeral Home, concluding with internment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, Massachusetts.
