Plaistow: James L. Hickey, Jr., 58, a resident of Plaistow since 2009, and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, died suddenly, May 4, 2017 at his home.

Born, raised and educated in Malden, MA, son of the late James and Barbara (Grover) Hickey, he was a member of the Malden High School Class of 1976.

A resident of Haverhill from 1993 until moving to Plaistow, Mr. Hickey worked as a clerk at the Stop and Shop in North Reading. He was a member of Saint James Parish in Haverhill and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1445.

Mr. Hickey enjoyed fishing and playing the drums and had an eclectic appreciation for all types of music. In his younger years he was a member of the 27 ^th Lancer Drum and Bugle Corps.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-four years, Rita (McCaffrey) Hickey, a daughter and son-in-law, Jaime L. and Jaris Wicklund, of Acton, MA, sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph A. and Kathleen Hickey of Lowell, MA, Christopher J. and Tiffany Hickey of Seabrook, and Jonathan E. Hickey of Lowell, a daughter-in-law Jaclyn Crowley of Plaistow, a brother Richard D. "Donnie" Sinclair of Reading, MA, a sister Paula Bransfield of Florida, grandchildren, Brianna, Grace, Alexia, Kylie, Keegan, Shane and Jaidyn, one aunt and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint James Church, Haverhill.
