Daneau
December 17, 1932 – January 16, 2020
Haverhill: James A. Daneau, 87, a longtime resident of Haverhill, died January 16, 2020 at Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Newburyport.
Born, raised and educated in Amesbury, son of the late Leo and Abbie (Welch) Daneau, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served honorably as an Airman until his discharge in September of 1953.
Mr. Daneau was a leather worker employed locally at Operation Alligator and Clicker City and later at Blue Ribbon Sports in Exeter. He also worked as an apple picker at Woodman's Orchard in Londonderry and finally as a driver for the Coach Company of Plaistow.
A member of Post #100 of The American Legion of Pelham, NH, he enjoyed traveling to the casinos in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Plainville, MA. He was a faithful listener of news programs and an avid Boston Red Sox fan and New England Patriots fan and also enjoyed playing Cribbage, 45's and Black Jack.
He was predeceased in 2016 by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Marilyn (Dusombre) Daneau, and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons and daughters-in-law, John O. Daneau and Ginger Rogers of Seabrook, NH, with whom he recently made his home, and James H. and Beth Daneau of Hampstead, NH, three daughters, Susan J. McCarthy, of Laconia, NH, Kelly J. Ridgewell of Maryland, and Sherrie R. Daneau of Portsmouth, NH, a son-in-law, Dennis McCarthy of Laconia, NH, sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday morning, January 24, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral service will follow at 12:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Amesbury, MA. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Northeast Veterans Outreach Center, 10 Reed St., Haverhill, MA 01832.
