August 4, 1934 – January 30, 2019
Haverhill: James C. Daly, 84, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died January 30, 2019 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, after being stricken at home.
The son of the late Charles and Helen (Melanson) Daly, he attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1953. Mr. Daly served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for eight years and was employed for thirty-four years at Western Electric Co. and A T& T Technologies, retiring as a Supervisor. He also worked at the former Ashland Custom Kitchens in Haverhill.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, he was a former member of the Communication Workers of America Local 1365 and The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and enjoyed a lifelong passion for bowling as a member of Saint Joseph Bowling League. Mr. Daly was a founding member of the Merrimack Valley Horseshoe League in 1963 and has enjoyed being a member well over fifty years. A devoted family man, he enjoyed traveling and special times with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other extended family members.
Predeceased by his first wife Barbara (Peltonovich) Daly in 1999, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of the last nineteen years, Marilyn (Payette) Daly, a son and daughter-in-law Robert J. and Christine Daly of Haverhill, a daughter and son-in-law Nancy A. and Michael Clohecy of Haverhill, a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin A. and Cindy Daly of Atlanta, Georgia, a sister Norma Alartosky of Hampstead, NH., grandchildren, Erica Kelleher, Stephanie Lewis, Danielle Manninen, Crystal Chabot, Katie Winship, Thomas Dick and Andrew Dick, seven great grandchildren, stepsons, Brian Paquette of Sandown, NH and Peter Conrad of Northwood, NH, step daughters, Linda Kelleher of Holiday, FL and LuAnn Neff of South Berwick, ME, five step-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jean M. (Daly) Dick in 1984, brothers, Richard L. Daly and John Daly, and a step daughter, Laurie Willis.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral will begin on Tuesday morning at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave, Haverhill.
