March 22, 1943 – December 23, 2024
James H. Browning, 81 a resident of the Town of Plaistow for the past fifty years, died peacefully, on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Brentwood.
Born in Marlboro, Massachusetts, son of the late Herman and Helen (Jefferson) Browning, he relocated to Haverhill as a child with his family. James attended local schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1961. He later attended Northern Essex Community College, receiving his associate's degree in accounting. James served honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves and the National Guard. A self-employed carpenter for most of his working life, James also earned his broker's license for real estate. A confirmed "car guy", James also enjoyed trips to local beaches and Cape Cod, as well as trips along the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. He was a fan of all New England sports teams and most enjoyed watching his own children compete in local sports.
Predeceased by his wife Joanne (MacDonald) Browning, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tye D.H. and Shannon Browning of Paris, TN, and Joshua L.A. and Alisa Browning of East Hampstead; a daughter and son-in-law, Jodi L. and Nathaniel Robinson of Eliot, ME; a brother Roger Browning of Port St. Lucie, FL, five grandchildren, Ashley (Browning) Lewis, Riley Browning, Graham Browning, Faelyn Robinson and Levon Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Harley and his former wife, Christine Wallace of Chattanooga, TN.
A Celebration of Life for James and Joanne will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 1pm at the First Baptist Church 122 Main St. Plaistow.
