Obituary


Haverhill: Jacqueline A. (Grassi) Festo, 91, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, died peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia (Berardini) Grassi, she was born on March 29, 1922 and was educated in the Haverhill School System. A member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1941, she attended the Fasio Beauty School and was a beautician in the Haverhill area for over forty years. Her most recent employment was with her dear friend Mary Pauline Wyka at Andrea's Beauty Salon in Plaistow.

Family was of utmost importance to Jackie, She enjoyed cooking, reading and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Louis D. Festo, two daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth A. and Daniel Brosnan of Haverhill and Bernardine A. Gearty of Brentwood,NH., grand-daughter Jacqueline A. Brosnan of Baltimore,MD and her fiancé Christopher R. Cashman, three sisters, Louise V. Emery and Natalie D. Grassi, of Haverhill and Edith Grassi of Melrose, and fifteen nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Eleanor M. Grassi, and Laura R. Grassi and her brothers, Dr. Michael A. Grassi and Dr. James E. Grassi, her son-in-law Kevin S. Gearty, and her nephew Michael G. Grassi.

The family wished to thank the staff of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center and Merrimack Valley Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Festo and her family during her last days.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's cemetery. The family requests that instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA 1832.
