Haverhill, MA:Isabelle (Homan) Clay, 89, a lifelong resident of Haverhill and formerly of Broadway, died January 31, 2012 in Haverhill, MA.She was born in Haverhill, daughter of James Alexander and Margarette Adaise (Fournier) Homan.She attended local schools and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1940.She was a member of All Saints Parish.

She worked at Western Electric for 36 years.While there, she was a member of the Communication Workers of America.Isabelle enjoyed sewing clothes for her daughters throughout their childhood.In later years she created quilts, doilies and afghans for friends and family.She was a good cook, but her specialty was baking (her pies and toll house cookies were the best).She was always an avid reader and took great pleasure in crossword puzzles and word games.She bowled in a league for many years.Isabelle was a devoted lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.After retirement, she enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods with Polly Murphy (her best friend since childhood) and shopping with her cousin, Barbara Port.

She was predeceased by her husband, Linwood S. Clay, Jr. in 1997, her granddaughter, Laurie Dallaire Henry in 2004, and her sisters, Cecile Gariepy, Rita Fronterotta, Anna Bagwell and Mabel (Penny) Treadway.

Isabelle was devoted to family all her life.She is survived by two daughters, Sheila McNamara and husband, John of Atkinson, NH, and Linda Dallaire and husband, Paul of Bradford, MA.Seven grandchildren, Doreen Tompkins, Debbie Hanrahan, John McNamara, Michael McNamara, Lynne Hartford, Christine Roy, and Paul Dallaire, Jr.Also ten great grandchildren, Josselyn, Cameron, Nicholas, Amanda, William, Kevin, Benjamin, Sean, Aaron and Jameson.

The family would like to thank the staff at Haverhill Crossings for their caring service and dedication to Isabelle over the past five years.She enjoyed all the activities available and made some wonderful friendships with staff and residents.We are also grateful to the staff at Beacon Hospice for their loving care these last few weeks.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, February 2, 2012, from 3 to 7 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.Her funeral will begin on Friday, February 3, 2012, at 8 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in All Saints Church, Haverhill.Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
