Obituary

Haverhill: Irving R. Auger, 90, of Haverhill and a former longtime resident of Groveland, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Born, raised, and educated in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Irving and Yvonne (Motard) Auger and graduated from Hill House High School in 1950. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of both the Korean War and the Vietnam War, Mr. Auger served honorably as a Staff Sergeant from 1950 until 1954, and again from 1956 until 1972, retiring after twenty-one years of service.

After his discharge from the service, Mr. Auger settled in Groveland, where he lived for the next twenty five years before moving to Haverhill in 1997. He was employed as a machinist for the Raytheon Co. for over twenty years and later as a Ranger at the Bradford Country Club.

A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, he was an avid golfer and longtime member of the Crystal Springs Golf Club and the American Legion Post #4 of Haverhill. He enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and Word Search puzzles and watching television game shows.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-four years, Louise (Ariel) Auger, a son, Michael L. Auger of Lowell, two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith A. and Dennis Collins of Haverhill, and Elizabeth and Denis Taschereau, of New Durham, NH, a brother and sister-in-law, Armand and Diane Auger of Texas, seven grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Nathaniel, Kristin, Viktor, Sara and Rachel, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased by his sister Rita Fitch.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, April 26, 2021, at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial with military honors will follow in the veterans' lot at Linwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Food Pantry at All Saint Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA.
