Obituary

Hervey A. “Butch” Gelineau Jr, 91, a resident of Haverhill, MA, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026 surround by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Loraine (Langlois) Gelineau with whom he shared twenty-one years of marriage.

He was born in Webster, MA on August 14, 1934 and was the son of the late Hervey Sr. and Bertha (Driscoll) Gelineau. Butch was raised and educated in Haverhill, MA and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1952. He attended Merrimack College in North Andover. Hervey proudly served his country during the Korean war enlisting in the United States Navy in 1951. He was a skilled painter employed by the district council thirty-five in Boston’s painters’ union. Hervey was a member of the American Legion Post 4 Wilbert M. Comeau in Haverhill, MA. He enjoyed bowling and ice fishing and was a longtime parishioner of All Saints Parish in Haverhill, formally St. Joseph’s. Hervey will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sons Paul Gelineau and his wife Carol of Kansas, Hervey A. Gelineau III of Kansas, his stepchildren William Levis of Haverhill, MA, Lisa (Levis) Nolan and her husband Kevin of Epping, NH, Susan (Levis) Lacostic of Haverhill, MA, his nine grandchildren, his four great grandchildren, and his best friend and care taker Michael Robillard. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 9am-11am at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11am. Interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
