Obituary

Boston, MA:  Herbert R. "Herbie" Zangari, Jr., 81, of Boston, MA and formerly of Haverhill, MA, died on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Herbert R. and Lena (St. Laurent) Zangari, he attended school in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1955.  A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting in 1962, he served as a Sergeant and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and two Marksman badges, and was honorably discharged in 1966.  Mr. Zangari worked as a Night Auditor in the hotel industry in Boston for many years.

A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former St. Rita's Parish, Mr. Zangari was a kind, caring person who was an advocate for his neighbors and enjoyed organizing social activities at the building where he lived.  A fan of all Boston sports teams, but especially The Boston Red Sox, he also enjoyed playing bingo, whist and "45".

He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by two brothers, Ronald L. Zangari of Haverhill and Michael R. Zangari and his wife, Paula of Haverhill; seven sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Burns of Haverhill, Mary Anne Gucciardi of Burlington, VT, Dolores "Dolly" Pacione of Plaistow, NH, Lorraine Bilodeau and her husband, Donald of Haverhill, Patricia O'Connell of Haverhill; Carole Zangari of Haverhill and Cynthia Zangari of Haverhill and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was pre-deceased by sisters, Kathleen Noyes, Constance David and Pamela Zangari, and brother, Richard Zangari.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church, Haverhill, MA.
