Georgetown, MA:Herbert K. "Topper"' Reed, 72, passed away on January 25, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Newburyport, following an extended illness and surrounded by his family.



Born in Plaistow, NH, son of the late Ellsworth and Barbara (Foss) Reed, he was raised and educated in Plaistow.He attended the Pollard School and graduated from the Sanborn Seminary, Kingston. Mr. Reed was a former resident of Merrimac before moving to Georgetown in the past year.



Mr. Reed worked as a deli manager at Crosby's Market in Georgetown for 14 years, Barcellos Market in Methuen and the former Custeau's Supermarket in Plaistow. He also formerly operated a fish market in Plaistow many years ago.He was the longtime Sexton of Plaistow Cemetery and Holy Angels Cemetery in Westville.



He is survived by his wife Flor Sabino; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa A. and David Joyce of Hudson, NH, and Tammy S. and Jeffrey Falvey of Barrington, RI; one brother Peter Reed of Exeter, NH; two sisters Barbara Holmes of Methuen, MA and Mary Reed of Plaistow, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Jack Reed.



Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH.His funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial service will take place in Plaistow Cemetery.
