Herbert Daniel "Dan" McCarriston, 90, a resident of Plaistow, NH and former resident of East Lebanon, ME, passed away on May 16, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Mary C. (Carrafiello) McCarriston with whom he spent 55 years of marriage.

He was born in Beverly, MA on September 27, 1934, and was the only son of the late Herbert G. and Muriel E. (Stevens) McCarriston.  He grew up in and had fond memories of Lynn, MA and spent childhood summers in Rangeley, ME, where he learned to appreciate nature and had a life-long love of fishing and hunting.  He served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Fred T. Berry and USS Tabberer during the Korean War. Dan attended Peterson School of Steam Engineering and held a 3rd class engineers license. After 20 years of employment, he retired from Boston Edison Co.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his son, Dana H. McCarriston of Salem, MA, his daughter and son-in-law Laura M. McCarriston and Jeffrey M. Boldi of Plaistow, NH, and his daughter and son-in-law Melissa M. and Michael A. Rolands of Las Vegas, NV.  He had four grandchildren: Catelin, Kyle, Andrew, Jonathan and one great-granddaughter, Sofia.

He had many interests and hobbies including a love of music, motorcycles, boating, archery, fly fishing, and scuba diving.  Now a Silent Key, he proudly obtained his General Class amateur radio license and enthusiastically spoke with other "hams" across the globe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12pm at St. Anne Parish, 26 Emerson Ave, Hampstead, NH on May 21, 2025, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.  In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Meals on Wheels of Rockingham County or Alzheimer's Association.
