Helen (Walenista) Paszko, 79, died Saturday at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Stanley P. Paszko, who died on May 31, 2012.
Born and educated in Boleslawiec, Poland, she moved to the United States in 1965, and settled in Haverhill. She was employed for several years at Lucent Technologies and enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker.
A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, and the former Saint Michael's Parish, Mrs. Paszko and her late husband were involved with the local Polish community taking part in church and social organizations. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her houseplants, baking and cooking, especially traditional Polish foods and desserts.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Greta and Raymond Labbe of Bradford, and a daughter Beata Webb of Fairfax, VA, a grandson, Sean T. Webb of Ohio, a brother, Piotr Walenista and sister Danuta Sudol, both of Poland, and many close friends in the Haverhill area.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at BERUBE-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, (Route 97) Haverhill. Her funeral will begin on Thursday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA.
