Atkinson, NH: Helen J. (Lessard) Lavoie, 92, of Atkinson, NH and former longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House.

Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Phileo J. and Helen E. (Rice) Lessard, she attended Haverhill High School. A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, she enjoyed bowling, horseback riding, and traveling with her husband in her younger years. Helen was known for her exceptional dessert creations, which she enjoyed making for family and friends.

Prior to her retirement from Lady Finelle Cosmetics, Mrs. Lavoie was employed in the local shoe factories, for Western Electric, and the school lunch program.

Mrs. Lavoie was predeceased by her husband, Albert L. Lavoie, and is survived by her son Michael G. Lavoie and his wife Kathleen (Wholley) of Haverhill, two grandsons, Brendan M. and Christopher J. Lavoie of Haverhill, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Thelma (Lessard) Belmer, her step-mother, Eva (Sampson) Lessard, and step-sister, Bertha Gelineau.

Relatives and friends may call on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
