Salem, NH: Helen E. (Butler) Gibbs, 84, of Salem, NH passed away peacefully in her sleep early Friday morning. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph D. Gibbs.
Born and raised in Winthrop, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Lindsey) Butler.
She was the sister of the late Reverend William Butler, the late Edward Butler and her surviving sister, Linda (Butler) McGeorge of Winthrop, MA. She is survived by her four children, Helen Ann Gusler and her husband, Bruce of Plaistow, NH, Joseph Gibbs, Jr. and his wife, Robyn of Santa Rosa, CA, William Gibbs and his wife, Cynthia of Salem, NH and John Gibbs and his wife, Patricia of Salem, NH. She was the proud grandmother of Bruce Gusler, Jr., April (Gusler) Sprague, Alexa Jade Links, William Gibbs, Jr., Stephanie (Gibbs) Hannibal, Aaron Gibbs and Amy Lewis. She was a great-grandmother to Mathew, Katie, Mike and Sawyer. She also had extended grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A graduate of Winthrop High, she was the co-founder and owner of "Helens Ceramic Studio" in Winthrop back in the late 1970's into the 1990's. During that time she founded "Knots and Pots" which combined her love of ceramics with her love of macramé. She was extremely artistic and talented and loved to pencil sketch her friends and family as well as paint with Bob Ross.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Helen's calling hours on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 1 to 3 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, under the NH State guidelines for social distancing and wearing of masks. Her Funeral Mass at Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton, NH and burial in Hillside Cemetery, East Kingston, NH will be held at a later date.
