Haverhill: Helen I. (Finnigan) Dufresne, 94, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Sunday, December 1, 2024, at High Pointe House, in Haverhill, with her loving family by her side.
The daughter of the late John and Grace (Gove) Finnigan, she attended Haverhill Public Schools and graduated Haverhill High School with the Class of 1948.
As a young woman, Helen was employed in the local shoe industry. She was a devoted wife and mother, staying home to raise her children, creating a warm and loving home for them. Once her children were grown, she returned to the work force and was employed at the Yum-Yum Shop in Haverhill, thoroughly enjoying the many people that she met and served.
A longtime member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish of Haverhill, Helen enjoyed R.V. camping and traveling through all of the United States and parts of Canada, with her husband, Ray, and also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and playing Bingo. She was an accomplished cook and because she had many neighbors of Greek origin, she learned to make Greek pastries for her family and friends. After her retirement, Helen and Ray were faithful volunteers at the Senior Center in Haverhill, and she was a former recipient of the Daniel Taffe Award.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of seventy-two years, Raymond L. Dufresne, four sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond J. and Linda Dufresne of Atkinson, NH, Robert J. and Michele Dufresne of St. Augustine, Fl, Richard J. Dufresne, of Berlin, NH, and David W. and Debra Dufresne of Haverhill, twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Helen to be held on Thursday, December 5, 2025, from 12p.m. and until 5p.m. at the home of Raymond and Linda Dufresne, 6 Pine Knoll Drive, Atkinson, NH.
