Obituary


Harold E. "Ed"' Paynter, 82, of Methuen, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Nevins Home.



Born in Medford, son of the late Harold and Laura (Profitt) Paynter, he was raised in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School in 1949. He was employed as a design draftsman first at Raytheon Co. and later at Sanders Associates in Nashua, retiring in 1994.



A resident of Plaistow from 1962 until 1990, Mr. Paynter moved to Pickens S.C. until 2001 when he returned to the Haverhill-Bradford area. He was a member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church and Exeter Sportsman's Club and enjoyed hunting and fishing.



The husband of the late Marjorie (Austin) Paynter, and father of the late Linda (Paynter) Ray, he is survuived by sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen C. and Jacqueline Paynter of Haverhill and Robert A. and Debra Paynter of Raymond, NH, a son-in-law, Duncan Ray of Florida, a sister Nancy Surrette of Inverness Fl, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.



Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home,116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Plaistow Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, PO Box 780, New York, NY, 10008.
