Harold L. Herrick passed away during the evening of Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, ME at the age of 84 with his loving children by his side.
Harold was born in Haverhill, MA on July 18, 1927.He was the son of the late Harold and Alice (Joncas) Herrick.
He was educated in the Haverhill, Massachusett public school system and attended Essex Aggie before joining the Navy in 1944.He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Harold was employed by AVCO Corp. in various locations.He was a VP at TME Corp. in Salem, NH from 1971-1977.He founded and operated the Gray True Value Hardware of Gray, ME and found and operated the Middle Range Marina in Poland Springs, ME from where he retired in 1989.
He was a member of the former St. Joseph's Church, the Crescent Yacht Club, the Salem, NH VFW, the American Legion Haverhill Post #4, a Life and Charter Member of the Derry-Salem Elks, Life Member of DAV National Post 68 and a Life Member of the National Association of Atomic Veterans.His hobbies included fishing and golf.
He is survived by his son, Steven P. Herrick and wife, Dorothy of Poland Springs, ME, two daughters, Lucille M. Ward and husband, John of Lewiston, ME and Sheila A. Herrick of Mechanic Falls, ME, four grandchildren, Christine Lenehan, Christopher Ward, John Ward, Jr. and Nathan Herrick, four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Logan Ward, Gavin and Gabrielle Lenehan, his companion, Arlene Hartford of Plaistow, NH, one sister, Eileen Ethier-Adams of Haverhill, MA and many nieces and nephews.
At Mr. Herrick's request, funeral arrangements were private and under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.Burial took place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill, MA, with Navy military honors.To send a message of condolence, please visit our website at www.berubecomeau.com.
