Merrimac, MA: Guido "Guy" Somma, age 92, a longtime resident of Merrimac and formerly of Methuen, and Haverhill, died peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 18, 2020 at his residence in Merrimac, surrounded by friends and family.

Born in Methuen, son of the late Anthony and Carmella (Amato) Somma, he attended local schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1957 and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He later attended Northern Essex Community College.

Mr. Somma was employed for many years as a Produce Manager for United Fruit and later as a Group Leader at Wang Laboratories. Following his retirement, he worked as Produce Manager at Shop and Save in Portland, ME.

An avid golfer and gardener, Mr. Somma attended The Church of The Nativity in Merrimac, Saint Rita's Church and All Saints Parish in Haverhill. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of fifty-nine years, and enjoyed the times that he spent with his large extended family of brothers and sisters and nephews and nieces.

Predeceased in 2008 by his loving wife Ann L. (DeDominicus) Somma, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister Christine Bellandi, of Naples, FL, his nephew and caretaker, Gino Bellandi and his wife Donna of Methuen, their daughter Melissa Tirone and her husband Daniel of Methuen, and many other nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by brothers Angelo Somma, Armand Somma, Alfred Somma, Victor Somma and Gildo Somma, and sisters Emily Guilimino, and Lisa Amorelli.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday morning November 24, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, following the State of New Hampshire guidelines for social distancing and the wearing of masks. His funeral service will follow at 11:15 in the funeral home and conclude with entombment in the mausoleum at Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford.
