Kingston, NH: Dr. Gia (Cui) Newman, Ph.D., age 50, of Kingston, died December 7, 2019, thirteen days before her fifty-first birthday, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Born in Xilinhot, China, she received her Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Economics from the Central University of Beijing and later her MBA from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing. Dr. Newman went on to receive an additional Master's Degree in Computer Science at Pace University in New York City and ultimately her Ph.D. from New York University.
At the time of her death, Dr. Newman was employed as a Senior Computer Science Data Base Programmer for Wheelabrator Technologies of Portsmouth, NH, and had previously been employed by Bank of New York, NYC, and United Healthcare of Hartford CT.
Dr. Newman was a Master Student and qualified as a Master Teacher at Gateway Tai Chi Gi Gong in Portsmouth. She also enjoyed Yoga, gardening and hiking and successfully climbed all forty-eight 4000 foot plus peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire accompanied by her husband, Dr. Will Newman. She has operated a blog for thirteen years with over one million followers around the globe, where she has inspired her readers with loving kindness, joyfulness, hopefulness, optimism and enlightened leadership. She possessed a brilliant smile that lighted the path of anyone who followed her, experiencing her loving kindness, patience, encouragement, compassion and forgiveness.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of nine years, Dr. William R. "Will" Newman of Newton, her parents, Yuanmin Cui and Xiufan Zhao of Beijing, her twin sister Shan Cui, a brother Fan Cui and one nephew and one niece, all of Beijing, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her Service of Remembrance will begin at 7:15 p.m. in the funeral home.
