Obituary


Haverhill, MA: Gerard E. Huberdeau, 88, of Haverhill, died on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Wingate at Haverhill Nursing Home.

A lifelong resident of Haverhill, he was the son of the late John and Antoinette (Girard) Huberdeau. He attended St. Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School, graduating with the Class of 1944. The youngest of seven children, he followed his five older brothers into the armed services during World War II. He served in the United States Army, 11th Airborne Division, as a Technician Fifth Grade and was a receipient of the Army of Occupation medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal, and the World War II Victory medal.

He was employed as a Store Keeper for the Western Electric Company and A T & T Technologies for forty-five years until his retirement and was a member of the C.W.A., Local 1365 and the Telephone Pioneers of America. A long time devoted member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, he was also a former member of the Franco American War Veterans.

In his younger years, he was a standout pitcher for the City Baseball League and in his later years he enjoyed golfing and bowling as a member of several local leagues. He enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins and golf tournaments on television.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Cecile M. (Cormier) Huberdeau; two sons, Paul G. Huberdeau of Whitman and Ronald F. Huberdeau of Bradford; three daughters, Anne M. Huberdeau and her longtime companion, Lawrence Mendes of Brighton, Karen J. Gaiero and her husband, David of Bradford and Nancy A. Huberdeau of Haverhill; five grandchildren, Kristen Tremblay, David G. Gaiero, Mark T. Gaiero, Matthew C. Huberdeau and Stephen F. Huberdeau; five great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his five brothers, Delphis, George, Armand, Roland and Lionel Huberdeau and his sister, Annette Brunelle.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, from 4 to 7 PM at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. His funeral will begin on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in All Saints Church, Haverhill, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
