Obituary

Pittsfield, MA:  Gerald A. "Jerry" Ligocki, 73, of Pittsfield, MA and formerly of Chelsea, MA and Kingston, NH, died on February 1, 2020 at his daughter's home,  where he has been a resident for the past twelve months.

If it were possible to put 73 years of life into a few words, this would best describe the life of Gerald (Jerry) Ligocki: "When through one man, a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth comes into the world, then that man's life has had meaning." (Fr. A. Delp)

Beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, he leaves a legacy rich in kindness, care, and total commitment to family and friends.

On Saturday, February 1, 2020, lovingly surrounded by his family, Jerry left this world to be reunited with Donna his beloved wife and soul mate.

Born in Chelsea, MA on Feb. 13, 1946, son of Josephine and Henry Ligocki, he was employed by J. Shore & Company  first as a truck driver and then as manager. He was a long standing  dedicated member of the Teamster's Union.

On May 14, 1966, he married Donna Basler, his childhood sweetheart who was always the love of his life. Her passing in 2005, left a chasm in his heart which has only now been filled by their eternal reunion in God.

Lovingly known as the "unofficial mayor of Chelsea," he was the "go to" person to all who needed advice or assistance. Loyal to all who knew him, and always willing to help anyone who needed him, he was counted on as a man of his word. He never made a promise he could not keep.

To the end of his life he was a man of quick wit and a great sense of humor, with impeccable comedic timing.

His life revolved around his family. He loved to attend his grandkids' sporting events  as their biggest and most loyal fan. His family was the air he breathed they were his everything! No one could want a better husband, Dad, "Papa" or brother.

When the day before his passing, his daughters asked what were his life's best accomplishments, he answered: "Getting married and having our family."

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two sons, Gennaro "Jebba" Ligocki of Revere, MA and David Ligocki of NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne and Gerard Gauthier of Lowell, VT and Danielle and Gary Munn of Pittsfield, MA; two brothers, Larry Ligocki of Chelsea, MA and Tommy Ligocki of Seabrook, NH; a sister, Donna Arsenault of Chelsea,MA; fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased by his brother Henry.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.  A funeral service will follow at 12:15 PM in the funeral home and followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston, NH.
