Obituary

Atkinson – Gerald A. Dennig, 79, passed away suddenly in his home on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Born March 20, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late August and Wanda (Tomaczeski) Dennig.

Jerry was, above all, a man who fiercely loved his family. He was Gail Dennig's loving husband, and she will miss him dearly. He was most proud of his two children, Alexandra and Zachary Dennig, as well as his three stepchildren, Kristen Sergeant, Bryan Sergeant, and Tracy Emerson. He was Grampa and Grampy to 5 grandchildren; Ella Dennig, Eric and Adam Sergeant, and Riley and Everett Emerson who will miss his many jokes and caring hugs.

He was the treasured brother of Paul A. Dennig and his wife, Lee Dennig of San Jose, CA. Jerry is predeceased by his brother, August "Gus" Dennig, and his sister, Barbara Dennig. He was incredibly proud to graduate from Norwich University ('67), where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration. He cherished many lifelong friendships with his fellow classmates and always looked forward to the opportunity to return to the Norwich campus. Upon graduation, he proudly accepted his commission as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Later, he enjoyed a successful career in business.

In addition to his family, one of his favorite passions was his talent as a marksman. He collected and restored period firearms and successfully competed in many marksmanship events. He served on the board at the Haverhill Hound Rod & Gun Club and always considered his fellow members as close friends. To Al Morris, Jerry would want to thank you for your unwavering friendship.

Jerry was never reluctant to share a joke or a story. He always found ways to focus on the positive side of life. We will all miss his handshakes, hugs, puns, and laughter. Jerry will be missed and remembered forever by all who knew and loved him.
