Plaistow: Gerald P. Assad, 79, a resident of Plaistow since 1971, died peacefully on March 15, 2022 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.
Born in Lawrence, MA, son of the late Tufic and Jennie (Rashad) Assad, he was raised and educated in Methuen and was a member of the Tenney Memorial High School Class of 1960. Jerry served in the Army National Guard as a corporal until his discharge IN 1964. He later attended Merrimack College in North Andover.
Employed as an inventory logistics analyst for thirty years at Honeywell/Bull, he later established a local home improvement company known as Painters 3, specializing in home painting and repairs.
Acknowledged by many who knew him, Jerry was a very kind and giving man. He was a member of Holy Angels Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish in Plaistow. He was an active member of St. Jude Council of the Knights of Columbus for thirty-three years and served in various committees including several times and the Chairman of the Tootsie Roll Drive. He also helped to establish and was very active with the People Helping People committee of the Council and was a 4 th Degree member of Bishop Peterson Assembly Knights of Columbus of Salem, NH.
An accomplished saxophone player in his younger years, he performed with his band, Jerry and the Creations in the Methuen area. Jerry was devoted to his family and enjoyed vegetable gardening and spending time at the beach. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics and in his later years also enjoyed spending winters at his condo in Sarasota, Florida, where he served as the Condo President for several years.
Predeceased in 2002 by his wife of thirty-eight years, Eleanor M. (Razza) Assad, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son Gerald P. Assad, II of Plaistow, a daughter and son-in-law, Grace T. and Robert Kelley of Danville, a sister and brother-in-law, Masha and Robert Tartaglia of Boxford, MA, two grandchildren, Brendan and Cameron Kelley of Danville, his longtime loving companion, Julie Masera of Plaistow, an aunt Rita Charmanski of Florida, niece, Jennifer Belanger and her husband Craig, nephew, Glen Tartaglia and his wife Anna and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jerry's Life Celebration to be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will begin on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH.
