George R. Souza Sr. "Gig", age 80, of Methuen passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023 at Andover Manor Nursing & Rehab in Andover, MA. He was born in Lowell, MA on March 2, 1943 and was the son of the late Emanuel and Mary (Cordiero) Souza.

In his younger years, he worked as a union painter. Then later, he spent much of his time with his racehorses at local racetracks including Rockingham Park, and at local casinos including Foxwoods and his many trips to Las Vegas. As he got older, he could be found most days at the Fireside Restaurant in Methuen enjoying time with his friends. Gig lived his life everyday as he wanted to until later when dementia took that away.

He is survived by his children Brian Souza of Haverhill and Christine Guy and her husband Edward J. Guy III of Haverhill, his grandchildren Celeste, Cecilia, Carmella, Danielle, and Liza and his brother Richard Souza of Pelham.

He was sadly predeceased by his son George R. Souza, Jr. and brothers Joseph Souza and Gerald Souza.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 10am – 12pm at the Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. His funeral service will follow at 12:15 at the funeral home. Interment at Pelham Cemetery, Pelham, NH.
