Pappas
July 18, 1925 – February 27, 2021
Kingston, NH: George Joseph Pappas, 82, of Kingston, NH and formerly of Haverhill, MA, died on February 27, 2021 at Oceanside Center Nursing Home in Hampton, NH.
Born and raised in Haverhill, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Nellie (Racine) Pappas. He graduated from the former St. James High School, Haverhill and from Merrimack College, No. Andover, MA, where he received his Bachelor's Degree.
During World War II, George served in the U. S. Navy Air Corp in the Pacific Theatre. Among his awards were three Air Medals, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He was discharged from the service in December 1945. In 2001, he was inducted into the Navy Combat Airman Roll of Honor at Patriots Point, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
Mr. Pappas retired from Lucent Technologies, having worked there for twenty-nine years. For many years, he traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina during the winter months, where he and his wife enjoyed golf and the weather. A twelve-year member of the Swinger Golf Club, George enjoyed boating and fishing on many NH lakes and at his summer home in Grafton, NH.
Mr. Pappas was pre-deceased by his sister, Alice. He leaves his loving and devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Marjorie (Tremblay) Pappas and his son, David Pappas of Methuen, MA.
There will be no calling hours and services for Mr. Pappas will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
