Atkinson, NH: George E. Kinney, Jr., 96, a former longtime resident of Atkinson, died October 17,2014 at Windham Terrace, Windham, NH.
Born in Stoneham, MA., he was the son of the late George and Dorothy (Hunter) Kinney, and was raised and educated in Melrose. A graduate of Melrose High School, Mr. Kinney served as a Private in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a machinist and Supervisor at A.T. & T. Technologies for many years before his retirement and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
A licensed pilot, Mr. Kinney enjoyed flying bi-planes and racing sailboats, and was a member of Lake Massabesic Yacht Club.
The husband of the late Mary (Borisko) Kinney, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne E. and June Kinney of Kingston, and Paul P. and Jane Kinney of Plaistow, a daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Girard of Sandown, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grand-daughter, Deborah Girard and a son-in-law Kenneth Girard.
A private family burial service with Military Honors will take place in the Atkinson Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Atkinson Fire Department, P.O.
