Derry, NH: Gayle E. (Burns) Van Houten, 72, a resident of Pleasant Valley Nursing Center for the past five years and a former longtime resident of Hampstead and Derry, NH died peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023 with her loving family and nursing staff by her side.

Born in Portland, Maine, daughter of the late Warren E. and Mabel E. (Brown) Burns, Gayle moved with her family to Roselle Park, NJ at the age of five. She attended local schools and Roselle Park High School.

A member of the New England Showmen's Association, she worked in food service as a waitress and in novelty sales for several amusement companies including Fiesta Shows of Seabrook, NH.

Gayle was devoted to her family and also enjoyed traveling, cruising,  crocheting, playing bingo and spending time with her large extended family and friends.

Predeceased in 2004 by her longtime loving companion Charles Hibbert, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses and significant others, Dawn and Kevin Tipton, of Manchester, NH, William Hendricks and Debbie Millett of Haverhill, MA, Donna Rollins of Abilene, TX, Barbara Van Houten of Hampton, NH and Charlie's son and daughter-in-law, Charles "Chuckie" and Maria Hibbert of Northfield, NH; a sister Gloria Tremblay, of Sunapee, NH, thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie Strydom, Michael Minion, Amanda Van Houten, Shelly Dos Santos, Samantha Mistich, Alicia Linehan, Johnny Linehan, Celina Moynihan, Nicholas Hendricks, Ariana Hendricks, Tatiana Hendricks, and Charles Hibbert's grandsons, Charles "Chaz" Hibbert and Mathew Hibbert; twenty great-grandchildren, Lucas, Cohen, Aiden, Kayden, Amaya, Naomi, Cameron, Gabriel, Elliana, Jasmine, Dominic, Lincoln, Snow, Kaydenn, Tianna, Keagan, Jaidenn, Aubrey, Calleigh, and Kenneth, and several nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Van Houten, a sister, Joan Chernack, and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Charlotte; and was expecting the birth of a new great-grand-daughter, Adalyn.

Relatives and friends are invited to Gayle's Life Celebration to be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 12:15 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
