Hampstead: Gail J. (Clark) Lapham 81, a lifelong resident of Hampstead, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at her home with her loving husband by her side.
Born July 3, 1938 in Derry, NH to the late Jayne E. (Eastman) (Clark) Hall and Walter F. Clark, Jr., she attended Hampstead schools and was a member of the Hampstead High School Class of 1956. She later graduated from the Chandler School for Women in Boston.
Gail was employed by McGregor Law Firm, and was a teacher and director of Stepping Stones Nursery School, Hampstead. She also was employed at Triesman's of Plaistow and as a secretary at Hampstead Hospital and finally at Edington Mechanical.
Gail was actively involved in many organizations in Hampstead, including The Young Mothers Club, The Hampstead Lionesses and Friends of the Hampstead Library. She loved to travel, especially on cruises and to Aruba and was an avid Elvis fan. She enjoyed shopping and was a devoted and loving grandmother.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of fifty-nine years years, Stanley M. Lapham, daughters Susan M. Lapham of Salem, NH, and Julie G. Lapham-McDevitt and her husband James K. McDevitt of Barrington, NH, a brother Richard A. Clark of Hampstead, NH., grandchildren Robert P. Auger and his wife Taylor of CA. Lisa N. McDevitt of Longmont, CO, James S. McDevitt of Barrington, NH, Matthew W. Lapham and Justin R. Lapham both of Chester, NH, a daughter-in-law, Amy Lapham of Chester, a niece, nephew and many cousins. Gail was predeceased by her sons, Brian W. Lapham and Cpl. John R. Lapham.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gail's Life Celebration to be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main ST., Plaistow NH.
Her funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Hampstead Congregational Church, Main St., Hampstead, followed by a reception in Hadley Hall. A private family burial service will be held later in the day at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead.
