Plaistow, NH: Frederick O. Nelson, 86, a former longtime resident of Plaistow, died May 9, 2022 at Oceanside Center in Hampton.
Born in Lynn and raised and educated in Saugus, he was the son of the late Ralph and Arlene (Cann) Nelson.
A self-employed woodworker for all his life, he owned and operated Nelson Woodworking in Plaistow. He was proud to repair the Civil War cannons in front of the town hall for the Bicentennial celebration in 1976. He was a Ham Radio operator with call sign KA1OCK, and enjoyed reaching out to others all over the world.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Nelson of Chelmsford, MA and Steven Nelson of Plaistow, two grandchildren, Jeffrey Nelson and Kristin Nelson, four great-grandchildren, Skye, David, Andrew and Jack, and his former wife Nancy (Strout) Bullock. He was predeceased by his brother Carl Nelson and sisters, Esther Poulsen, Doris Councilman and Eleanor Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service to be held at 11:30 a.m. on June 3, 2022 in Plaistow Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN.
