Frederick, H. Ely, 88, a lifetime resident of Plaistow, NH, died on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Sweet) Ely.

He was born in Plaistow, NH, on May 20, 1936 and was the son of the late Raymond and Hazel (Riley) Ely. Fred was raised and educated in Plaistow. He was employed as a sub-contracted dry waller during his earlier working years. Later he worked for Jacob's engineering and for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in the carpenter shop until his retirement in 2005. In his younger years he was a hunter and fisherman. He loved animals, gardening, watching baseball and football and spending time with friends and family.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #34 and he was a longtime member of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club for over 72 years, joining with his dad when he was just 15. The fishpond at the club was named after his father Ray Ely. During his years as a member, Fred acted as the hunter safety instructor, a registered trapper, he ran the deer pool and fish pool, fed and cared for the club's fallow deer, he helped rebuild the club room and bar.

Besides his wife, Fred is survived by his children Karen Ely and her husband David Call of Sandown, NH, and Robert Ely and his wife Lana of Epping, NH, his grandchildren Kristen, Jessica and James, five great grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by a half-brother Wilfred Kimball and his family whom he met in 2021.  He will be dearly missed.

Fred was sadly predeceased by his siblings Phoebe Venti, Raymond Ely Jr, Harriet Buchikas, and Bernice Ely.

There will be a celebration of life for Fred at the Plaistow Fish and Game, May Ray Ave, Plaistow, NH, Saturday, January 18th at 1pm.
