North Andover, MA: Fred Sarfde, 93, of North Andover and a former longtime resident of Bradford, MA, died on October 5, 2015 at the Prescott House in North Andover.

Born and raised in Methuen, son of the late George and Sadie (Mahoney) Sarfde, he attended Central Catholic High School. Mr. Sarfde served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946 with the rank of Corporal. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African Eastern Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.

Mr. Sarfde was employed first as a Laundry Truck Driver, and later at the Lawrence Mills. He was most recently employed as an Electronic Technician for thirty years at Raytheon Company from where he retired.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Methuen, he was also a member of the American Legion Post 122 in Methuen, IBEW Local 1505, the 100th Infantry Division Association, and the Sons of Bitché. An avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, Mr. Sarfde enjoyed working in his yard, tending to his pool, traveling, and golfing.

He was predeceased by his wife, M. Catherine (LeBlanc) Sarfde, and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Sarfde of Ward Hill, MA, four daughters, Susan Briggs of Haverhill, Lisa Sarfde of Ocala, FL, Karen Brighi and her husband Steve of Bradford, and Laura Durso and her husband Michael of Methuen, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday, October 10 at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
