Plaistow – Frances E. Bowie, 84, passed away Monday February 5, 2024, at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center following a period of failing health.

Born April 23, 1939 in Haverhill, MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Wilson) McAvoy. She attended Salem Nursing School and worked as an RN in the nursery department of a hospital in Allentown, PA.

She was a homemaker who was dedicated to raising her children and her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, camping, watching classic movies, and socializing. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband Mel at their former second home in the Poconos and winters at their home at the Good Life RV Resort in Florida. She especially enjoyed and appreciated the devoted love and assistance of her granddaughter Angela and granddaughter-in-law Terri as her health declined.

Members of her family include her husband of 62 years Melvin Bowie of Plaistow, NH; her son David Bowie and wife Susan of Candia, NH, and Rochester, NH; her daughter Sandra Larocque of Derry, NH; four grandchildren Angela, David. Russell, Brandon, and one great granddaughter Autumn; her four siblings William McAvoy, Patricia Blair, Robert McAvoy, and Marguerite "Peggy" Wespiser, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Jane McAvoy.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday February 12, 2024 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Plaistow, NH. A memorial service will follow at 1:15 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.
