Nokomis, Florida:Eugene G. Ian, age 98, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Venice Regional Medical Center, Venice, FL.



Mr. Ian was born in Romania on February 19, 1914.He escaped from Communist Romania in 1968 with his wife, Eliza, and two years later brought his son, Andrew, to the United States where they could all start a free life together.



He was a professional Architect and Engineer with Gibbs & Hill located in New York City.He and his wife, Eliza, moved to Nokomis, FL in 1979 where he worked for Conyers & West in Sarasota, where he was instrumental in the development of several buildings in Sarasota.



He is survived by his wife, Eliza (Popescu) Ian; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Debbie Ian of Atkinson, NH; a grandson, Eric Ian of Boulder, CO and a granddaughter, Jaime Ian of Brunswick, NY.He was predeceased by two sisters, Lolita and Constanza.



Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 3 to 5 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., (Plaistow Village), Plaistow, NH.His funeral will begin on Monday, October 8, 2012, at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow, NH.Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, NH.
