Obituary

Atkinson, NH:  Esther (Patten) Roberts, 93, passed away peacefully in Haverhill at Hannah Duston Long Term Healthcare Center on April 5, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Roberts was born June 29, 1923 in Haverhill, daughter of the late Leroy and Agnes (Gleed) Patten and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1941. She attended McIntosh Business School and was employed as the Director of Volunteers for the former Hale Hospital and Merrimack Valley Hospital. She directed a staff of ninety hospital volunteers for thirty-six years until her retirement in November of 2001.

Following her retirement, Mrs. Roberts worked part-time at the Hospital Gift and Coffee Shop until failing health forced her final retirement in 2012.

She was a member of the Hale Hospital Auxiliary for forty-five years, a member of the Haverhill Women's City Club, and was nominated several years ago as Haverhill Women of the Year.

Mrs. Roberts enjoyed knitting, crocheting and selling her creations at local craft fairs with her longtime dear friend Jeanette White. She often donated hats and mittens to the needy and every member of her family was lucky to be able to curl up with one of her beautiful Afghans.

Predeceased by her husband Donald M. Roberts, Sr. on Christmas Day in 2007, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons, Donald M. Roberts, Jr. and his wife Donna of Atkinson, Dennis Roberts and his wife Alice of Henniker, Bruce Roberts and his wife Barbara of South Carolina, and Jeffrey Roberts and his wife Diane of Franklin, grandchildren, Brian K. Roberts and his wife Janice, Timothy M. Roberts and his wife Sheila, Kristyn (Roberts) LaFleur and her husband Rick, Dennis Roberts, Jr. and his wife Andrea and Jamie Roberts, great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Roberts, Jonathan Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Brady LaFleur and Shea LaFleur, Connor Roberts and Amelia Roberts.  She was predeceased by her sisters Addie June Gates and Dorothy Hardy. She also leaves behind many friends and family who loved her dearly and will miss her very much.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of the Hannah Duston Long Term Care Center for the wonderful care and love extended to Mrs. Roberts and her family.
