Kingston, NH: Ernest A. Swinerton, 86, a resident of Kingston since 1960, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, with his devoted wife by his side.
Born and raised in North Conway, son of the late Ellsworth Swinerton and the late Virginia (Warren) (Swinerton) Cressy, he graduated from Kennett High School in Conway. As a young man, Mr. Swinerton worked as a pinsetter in a local bowling alley and as a caddy and greens keeper at the local golf club. He went on to receive his Associates Degree from Portsmouth Technical Institute and also attended Lowell Technical Institute.
Mr. Swinerton was employed as a designer and draftsman for AT & T Technologies and Bell Labs for thirty-three years until his retirement in 1989.
A member of the Brentwood Baptist Church, he was a founding member and former treasurer of the Maranatha Baptist Church of Kingston. He was an avid bowler and also enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and hunting.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-three years, Ruth (Crosby) Swinerton, six sons; Andrew E. Swinerton and his life partner Kathy MacDonald of Exeter, Peter E. Swinerton of Plaistow, James Swinerton of Exeter, Thomas E. Swinerton and his wife Kathy of Methuen, MA, David E. Swinerton and his wife Christine of Danville, and Timothy E. Swinerton and his wife Debbie of Somersworth, NH, a daughter-in-law Cheryl Clough of Exeter, a sister-in-law Ruth L. Swinerton of VA and wife of his late brother Robert W. Swinerton, nine grandchildren; Tim, Ryan, Matt, Chanel, Jessica, Liann, Evan, Wade and Page, three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Demetrius, and London.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association of to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH.
