Ernest L. Goff, 94, a resident of Brentwood, died January 19, 2017, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home.

Born in Orono, Maine and raised and educated in Skowhegan, son of the late William and Ada (Nadeau) Goff, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps before enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He served honorably as a corporal in the Signal Corps.

Mr. Goff managed the operation of the Solon Manufacturing Co in Skowhegan for many years. He also was employed for several years as a Sales representative for  R. B. Durning Co. of Bangor and for Bailey Manufacturing of Seabrook. He retired from Nike Co. and also sold life insurance for several companies over the years.

A former resident of Bangor and Kittery Maine and Deerfield, NH, he was a Life Member of the American Legion of Richmond and a former member of the Lions Club of Skowhegan.

Mr. Goff was known by many as the "consummate gentleman", kind and loving, who was always willing to help anyone in need. He went about his daily chores and responsibilities with a smile on his face, singing or whistling. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, drawing, yardwork and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Norma E. (Hughes) Goff, two daughters, Janet Densmore of Kingston, and Louise Dunn of Berwick, ME, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by a daughter Brenda Stevens, a sister Marguerite Collins, and brothers, George, Robert, Floyd and Mahlon Goff.
