Eric M. Summerton, 90, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, and formerly a longtime resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at All American Assisted Living in Kingston, New Hampshire.

Born in Dundee, Scotland, on June 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah Summerton. It was in Dundee that Eric developed a lifelong love of soccer and automobiles, particularly Jaguars. After moving to the United States, he built a successful career as a tool and die maker, working in manufacturing throughout the Merrimack Valley.

Eric enjoyed many years on the golf course and was a proud member of Crystal Springs Golf Club in Haverhill, Massachusetts, for more than 30 years. He was also a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and rarely missed a game.

Above all, Eric’s greatest pride was his family and his remarkable 70-year marriage to his beloved wife, Vina. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished the time spent with those he loved most.

Eric will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Vina (Hamilton) Summerton of Hampstead, New Hampshire; his three sons, Greg Summerton and his wife, Andrea, of Limington, Maine; Gary Summerton and his wife, Cheryl, of Sunapee, New Hampshire; and Glen Summerton and his wife, Ronni, of Hampstead, New Hampshire; his sister, Marion Gabriel of Canada; six cherished grandchildren; and one beloved great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Iris Burnett.

A private family service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Hampstead, New Hampshire.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eric's honor to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.
