Danville, NH: Ellen V. (Diggins) Kent, 77, a resident of Danville since 1989, died peacefully at her home on Monday morning, June 12, 2017.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Murray) Diggins, she attended local schools and was a member of the Dorchester High School Class of 1957.
Mrs. Kent last worked as a certified nursing assistant and had previously been employed as a custom drapery maker by a Marblehead decorating firm. As a young woman she worked in the first Dunkin Donuts established in Dorchester.
A former resident of New Sharon, Maine, Mrs. Kent was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed lavishing gifts on her grandchildren whenever she had the opportunity and creating a warm and loving home for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, decorating and Caribbean cruises with her husband. She had a great affinity for animals, especially the chickens, pigs and horses that she raised on her property.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of twenty eight years, Robert J. Kent, daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Joseph Paine of Derry, Maureen Levesque of Derry, Patricia and James Richards of Jay, Maine, and Francine and John Chandler of Kingston, NH, two sisters Denise Munroe of Wakefield, MA and Patricia Lyons of Inverness, Florida, grandchildren Joshua Paine, Justin Paine, Nicole Levesque, Mike Levesque, Bradley Richards, Brian Richards and Rebecca Chandler, great grandson, Carter Richards and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Diggins and brothers Edward and Kevin Diggins.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral service will follow at 11:15 at the funeral home. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family requests that memorial donations be made to New Hampshire Special Olympics.
