Hampstead, NH: Eleanor M. (Reagan) Whelan, 93, formerly of Hampstead, NH and Somerville, Ma, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at her home in Windham.
Born, raised and educated in Somerville, Massachusetts, daughter of the late James and Molly (Moriarty) Reagan, she was a member of the Somerville High School Class of 1943. As a young woman, Mrs. Whelan was employed as a loan clerk for the Boston office of the John Hancock Life Insurance Co. for several years. She retired from the workforce to raise her children and create a warm and loving home for her husband and four children.
While living in Somerville, she was a member of Saint Clement's Parish and cared for her elderly parents and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and her late brother Charles Reagan. She also enjoyed shopping and spending summers at their vacation home in Moultonborough, NH. Mrs. Whelan and her husband Lawrence, moved to Hampstead in 2001 where she attended Saint Anne's Church.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her loving husband of sixty-seven years, Lawrence D. Whelan, her three daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen E. and Michael Whalen of Bowie, MD, Eileen A. and Daniel Hebert of Atkinson, NH, and Lauren E. and Kenneth Bickford of Moultonborough, NH, a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence D. and Susan Whelan of Atkinson, NH, grandchildren, Jamie Williamson, Tara Williamson, Eric Hebert, Kyle Hebert, Brianna Stephens, Alanna McGowan, Kendra Bickford, Andrew Whelan, Abigail Whelan and Allisson Whelan, and two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Charles and Madeline Reagan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Whelan's Calling Hours and Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, NH. Springtime burial will be held in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead.
