Eleanor M. Grassi, 98, a life-long resident of Haverhill, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born on April 25, 1914, the daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia (Berardini) Grassi and was educated in the Haverhill Public Schools. Eleanor worked in the local shoe industry and was a tester at Western Electric Co. for twenty-five years prior to her retirement.
Family was of utmost importance to Eleanor; she was devoted to her two brothers and five sisters. She was an avid baker and cook and enjoyed entertaining at her home, preparing multi-course meals for family and friends. Her specialty was Italian cuisine, and she delighted in trying new recipes. She was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill.
Eleanor will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by four sisters: Louise V. Emery, Jacqueline A. Festo and her husband Louis, and Natalie D. Grassi, all of Haverhill, and Edith A. Grassi and her husband Robert of Melrose, also fifteen nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Laura R. Grassi and her brothers, Dr. Michael A. Grassi and Dr. James E. Grassi, and nephew Michael G. Grassi.

-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Route 97, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12p.m. in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01832.
