Newton, NH: Elaine M. (Papatolicas) Guthrie, 80, of Newton, NH and formerly of Methuen, MA, died on Monday, April 18, 2016, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill, MA.

Born in Manchester, NH, the daughter of Demetrios and Olga Papatolicas, she attended Manchester Central High School. She moved to Methuen, MA, where she resided for fifty-one years. She attended the Lawrence Vocational Technical High School where she received her L.P.N. training and certification and worked as an L.P.N. providing private duty care.

An avid reader, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, gardening and cooking, especially Greek foods. Mrs. Guthrie was devoted to animals and raised many on the family property and was most fond of her horses and dogs.

The wife of the late Thomas Guthrie who died in 1993, she is survived by a son, Stephen E. Guthrie of Pennsylvania, two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret J. and Daniel Sweeney of Newton, NH and Betty K. and Gene Mackey of Daytona Beach, FL, a sister, Connie Foskin of Manchester, ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sons, Andrew W. Guthrie, James D. Guthrie and Charles T. Guthrie a brother, Arthur Papatolicas and a sister Kathleen Fall.

There will be no calling hours. A PRIVATE graveside service will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St. (Route 121A), Plaistow, NH.
