Obituary

Dover, NH and Haverhill, MA: Elaine D. (Picard) Dodier, 87, of Dover, and a former longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, died peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, with her family by her side. Born and raised in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Alma (Dufour) Picard and attended Haverhill public schools. She began her working career as a young woman in the Haverhill shoe industry. She later was employed for many years at Western Electric Co. A T & T Technologies and retired from Lucent Technologies as an inspector.

A longtime member of Catholic parishes in the Haverhill area, Mrs. Dodier was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed Square Dancing, bowling in local company leagues, gardening, crocheting and knitting.

Predeceased in 1999 by her loving husband, Lucien J. Dodier, she is will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Kevin J. Dodier, of Concord, NH, two daughters Pamela Murphy and her husband Michael of Atkinson, and Michelle McLaughlin, of Epsom, six grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Murphy, Andrew J. Murphy, Kelly Ann McLaughlin, Eric M. McLaughlin, Kerri M. Quigley and Timothy J. Dodier, six great grandchildren , Makayla, Connor, Nathan, Aubrey, and Ryan Murphy, and Marlee Jo Quigley . She was looking forward to the birth of her seventh great-grandchild and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant son Lucien J. Dodier,Jr.,  a son-in-law Shawn McLaughlin, a daughter-in-law Jolene Dodier, two sisters Claire Blonda and Jeannette Viens, and nieces, Cynthia Viens and Deborah Koretko.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow. Her Funeral Mass will follow at Noon in Saint Anne's Church, Emerson Avenue, Hampstead, with burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. The family would like to thank the staff at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Dover and Cornerstone VNA and Hospice for the care and kindness extended to Mrs. Dodier in her final illness and the support extended to her family.
