Elaine I. (Chabot) Pare', 86, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, following a long illness and surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Clarence and Irene (Cote) Chabot, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School in 1945 as the Class Secretary. Mrs. Pare' was an accomplished dancer and student of the late Doris Caffrey. She performed in Tap, Jazz and Modern Dance routines in local theatres and also helped to entertain the troops at the local USO during the years of and following WWII.
Mrs. Pare' first worked at the former Mitchell's Department Store in downtown Haverhill and later was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. She also worked for several years as a secretary and administrative assistant to the late Haverhill Optometrist, Dr. Bernard Potvin. At the time of her retirement, Mrs. Pare' was employed as a processor at City Insurance Co. of Haverhill.
Amember of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Mrs. Pare' was a lifelong resident of Haverhill and also enjoyed being a summertime resident of Salisbury Beach and a wintertime resident of Deerfield Beach Florida for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was a charter member of "The Holy Moley Club".
Predeceased by her husband John L. Pare' in 2007, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Michael Pike of Haverhill, four sons, Jack L. Pare' and his wife Laurie of Bethlehem, NH, Denis L. Pare' of Haverhill, David S. Pare' and his wife Debra of Salisbury, and Scott S. Pare' and Wendy Burns of Haverhill, four grandchildren, Pamela J. Beidler and her husband Carter of Bolton, VT, Miranda L. Pare' and her fiancé Sean Walker of Burlington, NC, Matthew S. Pare' of Memphis, TN, and T.J. Pare' of Tampa,Florida, also Liam Burns of Haverhill, an aunt, Jeannette Coulle and an uncle Ovila Cote, both of Haverhill, several nieces, nephews and cousins and her "B & G Boys". She was predeceased by two brothers Normand and Donald Chabot. The family wishes to thank special caregiver Debbie Poole, for the years of outstanding care and comfort provided by her to Mrs. Pare'.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway (Route 97) Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill.
