Elaine Margaret (Gilmour) Blakemore, aged 78, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in Newton, New Hampshire.

Born on April 8, 1946, in Tranent, Scotland. After marrying the love of her life William (Bill) in 1966 and starting a family she travelled extensively and lived in Bodenham and Hereford, England, Rockport, ME, Singapore, Medford, NJ, and settled in Topsham, ME, before moving to Newton, NH in 2022. Elaine dedicated her professional life to the medical field, working in various medical offices. After retirement, she volunteered as a grief counselor with local hospice groups and worked part-time at a British store in Freeport, Maine.

Elaine was known for her honest and kind nature, deeply cherishing her family and her beloved dog, Hamish. Her hobbies included quilting, knitting, and sewing, and she had a profound love for music and dancing, which brought joy not only to her but also to those around her.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William (Bill) Blakemore; daughters, Pauline Mason and her husband Paul of Reading, England, Carryl McCarthy and her husband John of Newton, NH, and Elise Babcock and her husband David of North Yarmouth, ME; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Caswell, Cerys Mason, Andrew Babcock, and Isabella McCarthy; her great-grandchildren, Madelyn Caswell, and Grayson Babcock; and her brother, Roger Gilmour. She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and William Gilmour; sister, Elizabeth Williamson; and brother, Robert Gilmour.

Elaine's life was a testament to her loving spirit and enduring kindness, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A private service to celebrate Elaine's life will be held at the Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH, with the date to be announced later.
