IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward P.
Tripodi
April 16, 1935 – May 9, 2021
Edward P. Tripodi , "Ed", 86, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at All American Assisted Living in Kingston, NH.
Born in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late Bruno and Anna (McGakin) Tripodi. Ed proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he became a Teamster (Local 560) driving tractor trailers for many years and retiring with the Red Star Express Lines Company.
Ed was sixth of seven children unfortunately, both of his parents passed by the time he was five and he and his younger brother were sent to various Foster homes in Westchester County, some okay, some not so good. After Ed left the service he got married and started a family, raising his two sons in Maywood, NJ and being an active father in their sporting events and other activities. After his retirement he moved to South Florida and spent over eighteen years with his sweetheart, Dorothea Marema. Together they enjoyed traveling, dinners out and of course the occasional trip to the casino. He truly led a good life after a rough start.
Big Ed is survived by his sons, Ed Tripodi and his wife, Marybeth of Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Steve Tripodi and his wife, Tammy of East Hampstead, NH. He is also survived by his five grandsons who he was immensely proud of, Nicholas, Lukas, Matthew, Benjamin and Ryan. Lastly, he is survived by the person who took care of him and made sure his last years were a joy, Dorothea and her family.
At Ed's wishes, there will be no services. Please make a donation in his memory to Rockingham VNA, 137 Epping Rd, Exeter, NH 03833 , or American Diabetes Association , P.O. Box 7023 , Merrifield, VA 22116
