Obituary


Plaistow: Edward A. Lukas, Sr., 57 of Plaistow, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, with his loving family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.



Born in Somerville, Masssachusetts and raised and educated in Tewksbury, he was the son of the late Walter and Claire (Baxter) Lukas.



A member of the Tewksbury High School Class of 1973, Ed also graduated from the Suffolk County Corrections Officer Academy.



A deputy sheriff for Suffolk County, he has been employed for the last four years as a corrections officer at the Nashua Street Jail and also served as a Choice Officer speaking to students in Boston area schools. He had also formerly worked for Barros Associates of Derry.



A member of the Tyngsboro Fish and Game Club, Ed enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He was an avid Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots fan and was very devoted to his wife and children and cherished the time that he spent with them.



He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Vivian A, (Arcand) Lukas, his son, Edward A. Lukas, Jr., and his daughter Ryleigh J. Lukas, all of Plaistow, a brother and sister-in-law Robert and Tina Lukas of Tewksbury, MA, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Peggy and Dan Barros of Atkinson, two nephews, a niece, and several cousins.



Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church, Plaistow. A committal service will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery, East Road, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Lahey Clinic, Oncology/Hematology Department, In Care of Philanthropy, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805 in appreciation for the care provided by Dr. Christopher Tretter and his team.
