Haverhill: Edith A. "Edie" Lavoie, 86, a former longtime resident of Haverhill, MA, and East Hampstead, NH, died Monday, July 1, 2024, at High Pointe Hospice House.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L.N. and Cecile (German) Lavoie. She graduated from Haverhill High School and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston.

Edie first worked at the Community Chest and later was employed as a secretary and administrative assistant at AVCO, Wang Laboratories and Aramark. She was a member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish of Haverhill.

An avid skier, she was a longtime member of the Laurentian Ski Club and enjoyed playing tennis at Cedardale Health and Athletic Club. She organized and played in the golf league while at AVCO. She took great pleasure in traveling extensively the world over, especially some memorable trips to Europe and Alaska.

Edie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes "Gigs" and Robert Rousseau of Amesbury and Albina "Bina" and Gary Beauregard, of Amesbury; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph L.N. Lavoie, Jr., and Robert H. Lavoie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours to be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 930 to 11 a.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow NH. Her funeral service will follow at 11:15 in the funeral home and conclude with burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
