Duchemin

Haverhill: Edgar R. Duchemin, 76, of Haverhill passed away November 1, 2018, at home, with his wife by his side, after a two and a half year long battle with Mesothelioma.
Edgar was born in Haverhill to the late Oliver and Wilhelmina (Williams) Duchemin and attended Tilton School, and as he always said, "The Old Haverhill Trade." He was lousy with names but would run into people he went to grammar school with and recall and share info about their times together.
Edgar was a Vietnam era Army Veteran. He served his time in Boussac, France in a transportation unit where he was given the nickname "Mr. Stick" because he drove everything from an MG to a bus and finally a locomotive.
Ed worked many jobs over the years but enjoyed driving a truck for Star Paper and being a Building Maintenance Custodian, and Groundskeeper, and a half dozen other titles, as part of the Haverhill High School staff. Edgar also never met a small engine he couldn't fix.
In 1985, Edgar and his wife, Mary took in Mary's twin granddaughters, Mary, and Macey Cook and raised them as their own. Edgar was a life member of Amvets Post 147 and a thirty plus year member of Wilbur M. Comeau Post #4 of the American Legion.
Ed is survived by his by his loving wife of almost thirty-one years, Mary T. (Estabrook) Duchemin. He also leaves behind their 6 children, Carrie L. Richardson, of Haverhill, Jay Duchemin and his partner, Tricia Frost of Haverhill, Dana A. Duchemin and life partner, Mary Lou Perez of Rhode Island and Edgar R. Duchemin, II and his wife, Jin Hee of Virginia, Cheryl Martin and her husband Kevin of Groveland and Richard A "Buddy"Cook and his life partner, Rhonda Hailson of Salisbury.as well as his sister Margaret "Maggie" Driscoll of Haverhill, as well as grandchildren Damian Chase, Megan Martin-Comeau, Matthew Hill, Jessica Christianson-Cook, Christopher Richardson, Samantha Richardson, Kaitlin Martin, Taryn Duchemin, Kayla Badia, Britney Duchemin, Nicholas Duchemin, Bradley Duchemin, and several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings,Thomas O. Duchemin, Olive Pitkin, Ella Mae Jones, Gloria Beaupre, and Elizabeth Palermo, daughter, Lori Cook, and grandson, Joshua Christensen-Cook.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edgar's Life Celebration to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 12 Noon until 2:30 P.M. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. A brief service of remembrance will follow at 2:35 and conclude with the rendering of Military Honors by the U. S .Army.
